Q: How many services are there and how do I know which one is right for me?

A: We have morning and evening services each Sunday in addition to special services during Advent and Lent. Please see our worship service schedule for service times.

Q: When is communion taken?

A: The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, in addition to special services in Advent and Lent. Please see celebrating communion.

Q: Is there a program for my young children during the church service?

A: There is a nursery for younger children during services. Please see Children and Worship for more information.

Q: Do you have Sunday School classes?

A: Study opportunities are available through regular Sunday School classes for children beginning at age three through adults. A nursery is provided for children under age two during Sunday School.

Q: Where do I park and where do I enter the church?

A: First Presbyterian is located in downtown Jefferson City and thus does not have a large dedicated parking lot. There are a number of parking options on all sides of the building. The main entrance is on the east side of the building off Madison Street. In addition, there are side and back entrances on the north and west sides of the building. Handicap parking is available in the alley (Wall Street) between the church and Hawthorn Bank and on Madison Street in front of the church on Sunday mornings. You may enter through any of these doors. See map.

Q: How do people dress for service?

A: At the morning worship service, you’ll see many people wearing their “Sunday best,” but you’re also likely to see others in slacks and a casual shirt or sweater. At the Sunday evening worship service, you will be comfortable in very casual attire including jeans and shorts.
