Time and Talent

We all want to get involved in our church community. Involvement can be joining a Sunday School class, Bible study, Fellowship or the many other volunteer activities (see below). With so many ways to get involved how do you know what is available or where you will fit in? To help our members, we consider our own involvement in the church during our annual pledge. The many opportunities are listed on the Time and Talent sheet and allow you to select which ones you are interested in or have a talent for. Your responses will be shared with the various committees and persons overseeing activities, and they will reach out to help get you involved, as you like. However, please do not hesitate to ask them immediately to include you.

Please watch the newsletter, Friday e-news, Facebook and worship bulletin for other opportunities to help throughout the year.

Worship

Worship of God is central to FPC and we offer worship services on Sunday mornings and evenings as well as several special services during the year. There are many opportunities for members to share their own talents before and during worship services.

Christian Education & Children/Youth Activities

FPC needs volunteers for the many children and youth programs and many fun activities for all members, including families with children. Most educational programs are planned and overseen by the Christian Education Committee. All youth activities require adult chaperones.

Member Fellowship and Care

FPC thrives on fellowship. Our Fellowship Committee plans and oversees most church dinners as well as Sunday morning Coffee Fellowship, the SNL@5 meals, and the Loaves & Fishes Dinner Groups. We also have several member care programs, mostly overseen by our Deacons, Stephens Ministers, Presbyterian Women, and Alpha & Omega Committee. All members are invited to take part in the church’s Prayer Chain.

Mission Participation

FPC has an active and varied mission program through which we engage in service to our local community and the world. There are many ways to take part in mission and service throughout the year, such as serving meals, helping our members in need, or helping our local community. Our mission program is generally planned and overseen by the Mission Committee with some overseen by our Deacons, Presbyterian Women or Missouri Union Presbytery (MUP).

Church Building & Grounds

FPC has a large (and historic) facility to maintain and relies on member volunteers for as many tasks as possible, ranging from painting, cleaning, furniture repair, plumbing, landscaping, and negotiating professional contracts.. Most activities are planned and overseen by the Facilities Committee.

Church Office & Communications

Our church office relies on volunteers to help with mailings. Occasionally we need volunteers to answer the telephone or help with other clerical functions or projects.
